As mentioned in one of the previous posts XML became a native data type with SQL Server 2005. Opinions on its usefulness in a relational database are divided – "fragmented", even. ;) The purpose of this series of posts is to shed some light on how the XML data type could be utilized efficiently, and what are the caveats that should be avoided.
