XML composition using XML Query is not what you might call a popular subject, not even a frequently discussed one; well, at least as far as SQL Server is concerned. In this blog, I have discussed XML retrieval on numerous occasions, I have also touched SQL Server XML performance characteristics, but XML composition has so far been stuck on the back burner.
