XQuery 1.0 becomes a W3C Recommendation

On January 23rd 2007 the World Wide Web Consortium announced that XQuery 1.0, XPath 2.0 and XSLT 2.0 are now official W3C Recommendations, meaning that the R&D activities regarding the current versions have come to a conclusion and that all three standards are now ready for implementation. On the other hand this also means that the work on the next versions has started – I believe the XML Query
